It's a whole industry, an entire career that these patient, information filled people hook into. Many of these countries are looking for tourism to boost their economy.
It seems to be a satisfying job, to be able to advocate for all of the great things about your country.

Mimi translated this curious billboard for me: "I have everything I need. But I am still lonely"- advertising one of the popular Korean TV shows that is mainstream in Kuala Lumpur.
Mimi's version was great- but hard to follow. So here it is from Wikipedia, how Kuala Lumpur got its name:
Kuala Lumpur was founded around 1857 at the confluence of the Gombak and Klang rivers. In English, the name Kuala Lumpur literally means "muddy confluence". The venture into the muddy confluence started when a member of the Selangor royal family hired tin prospectors to open tin mines in the Klang Valley. Chinese prospectors went up the river Klang and began prospecting in the Ampang area, which was then jungle. Despite 69 of them dying due to the pestilential conditions, a thriving tin mine was established.[1] This naturally attracted merchants who traded basic provisions to the miners in return for some of the tin. Kuala Lumpur was the furthest point up the Klang River to which supplies could conveniently be brought by boat; it therefore became a collection and dispersal point serving the tin mines.[2]

Kuala Lumpur is a Muslim country. They also honor Buddhist, Hindu, and Christian faiths. In this Republic, we see Muslim Mosques right next to Buddhist and HinduTemples. All religions are fairly honored. All religions get along.

We were there on a Tuesday!

I had a bizarre Malaysian dessert called

I had a bizarre Malaysian dessert called
ABC. It's a layered mixture of crushed ice, random jelly and strange bland but brightly colored toppings, and several different syrups, all in one bowl. Not very tasty.
